The Family Notice Board goes Digital

In a busy household it is common to see a whiteboard in the kitchen or notes plastered on the fridge. With appointments, reminders, messages and a few captured memories thrown in, our fridges can get pretty cluttered with a traditional noticeboard. Amazon is looking to change that with the Echo Show 15.

What is the Echo Show 15?

The Echo Show 15 is a smart display with voice and touch controls. It looks like a picture frame and can serve as a digital photo frame, too. The Echo Show 15 can be split into sections allowing you to add digital post-it notes, a family calendar and smart home controls. The “15” in the name is a nod to the 15.6inch display, Amazon have other Echo Show products in smaller sizes, but none as slim and sexy as this one.

What makes the Echo Show 15 special?

Being the digital hub of the home anyone can use their voice or touch screen to add a note, a reminder, or a photo for others in the home to see. The family calendar gives everyone insight into the day ahead however Echo Show 15 also recognizes faces so it can show you your specific daily reminders and appointments. Helpful to remember who is picking up the kids that day. All of this is on top of the fact the Echo Show range can control your smart home devices, view who is at the front door, guide you through recipes, stream content from Netflix and play your favourite music. It also has a camera for video calling if required.

Where should the Echo Show 15 live?

Amazon have shown that it can be wall mounted and can also be used with a stand on your kitchen counter. It could realistically live anywhere in the home however the kitchen feels like the right location. It can be used in portrait or landscape mode and does require power to operate. While Amazon have stated the Echo Show 15 can handle some moisture and grime, it shouldn’t be too close to the stove and needs to still be treated like a gadget rather than an appliance.

Sold, how do I get one?

The Amazon Echo Show 15 will be available in early 2022 for $399 AUD, it’ll sadly miss the Christmas gift list. Stay tuned here and we’ll bring you a review shortly also.
